New TAP-ATL Cultural Chair

Jocelyn

Please join us in welcoming Jocelyn Ho, TAP-ATL’s new board member. Here is some more information about Jocelyn.

Jocelyn was born and raised in Florida. A double Gator, she graduated from the University of Florida with an undergraduate degree in piano performance and a law degree. Go Gators! After graduating from law school, Jocelyn worked at a law firm in Florida. She eventually journeyed to Atlanta for a new job and a new city.

Jocelyn spends her free time exploring Atlanta (especially the restaurants!), practicing yoga, cooking, and drinking bubble tea. She stays close to her Taiwanese roots by speaking to her relatives almost exclusively in Taiwanese and watching Taiwanese dramas. She is excited to be joining the TAP-ATL board and is looking forward to celebrating and promoting Taiwanese-American culture in the Atlanta community.

There is someone missing from that list: Eddie Huang who just happened to have his memoir turned into a TV show. You will be able to watch the show ABC in the Fall.

APA Family Recording Day @ Storycorps

Bookmark and Share

TAP-ATL would like to cordially invite any First Generation Taiwanese in the Atlanta Community to participate in an APAHS/StoryCorps Atlanta Asian Pacific American Family Recording Day program to share your stories of your personal experiences in America or Taiwan. The stories will be recorded and archived with StoryCorps, APA Historical Society, and at the U.S. Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. In the past, select recordings have been broadcasted on NPR and WABE. This is a great way to spotlight and represent the Taiwanese community here in the US and any stories are welcome!

Recordings will need to be done in a conversation format. Participants can use whatever language they are comfortable with (Taiwanese, Hakka, Mandarin, or English). Sessions will last one hour, which includes time to complete paperwork (demographics, consent and release forms), answer any questions you have, and tell your story.

Please email info@tap-atl.org by May 5th if you are interested in recording your story. We will schedule a phone conversation to walk you through the experience of a recording session, help you develop a list of potential questions, and help you brainstorm what you would like to speak about.

For more information, visit the Asian Pacific American Historical Society webpage..
